I was actually able to figure it out. Press any key to restart. And also lsscsi does only show the DVD drive, but no disks. You may need firmware blobs found at here and here and instructions found at installation manual chapter linxu.

I have yet to upgrade to 6. This is because at driver init time,the SCSI core may not yet be initialized because the driver is a block driver and attempting to register it with the SCSI core o420i such a case would cause a hang. This one worked for us: Because, the drive does not show the expected new size until the drive is expanded.

Solution is to install firmware-linux-nonfree. The installer comes pre-loaded with additional non-free firmware blobs which helps as you don’t need to modify the official iso’s.

I am attempting to install Centos 6 or 7 on a backup server Proliant DLp Gen 8 with a pi controller. VGA is Radeon, and complains about the firmware missing no acceleration, reduced 2D performance.
Is the HP Smart Array P/1G working on Ubuntu ?
